Hanover Township Human Services is committed to improving the welfare of Hanover Township residents experiencing hardships. Providing resources and support to empower residents in achieving self-sustainability; to serve promptly with dignity and respect.
The Department of Human Services offers programs and services to improve the quality of life of Hanover Township residents experiencing hardships. The department’s primary function is to provide financial assistance to qualifying residents through General and Emergency Assistance. The Human Services Department also oversees the Township’s Food Pantry that is available to the Township residents six days per week. Throughout the year the department offers special events such as holiday meal box distributions, mobile food pantries, backpack distribution and an annual holiday toy drive. Human Services provides these resources to residents to support and empower them in achieving self-sustainability.
Listed below are some additional services we provide:
- LIHEAP Application Intake (Cook County Residents ONLY): the program is designed to assist eligible low-income households pay for ComEd and Nicor services.
- Weatherization Application Intake: the program focuses on making homes safer and more energy efficient for qualifying low income residents in Cook County.
- Food Pantry: The Hanover Township Food Pantry is open to help Hanover Township residents that are experiencing hardships with food. We also have referrals for help with pet food.
- Community Health Nurse: Our Community Health department offers free health screening every Friday. Free screenings include: Diabetes, Anemia, Blood Pressure, Health Education and Medication Review. Cholesterol Screenings fee may apply. For more information click here.
