Hanover Township expands Food Pantry hours
Beginning July 2, Hanover Township will expand Food Pantry hours of operation to 36 hours a week. Located at 7431 Astor Avenue in Hanover Park, the pantry has experienced over 3,000 visits since April 1.
“The Township is focused on being an effective and helpful resource to residents and families in need,” said Brian McGuire, Hanover Township Supervisor. “With increased evening hours and weekend availability, our goal is to serve more residents who find themselves facing a difficult week, month, or ongoing, long-term situations.”
New Township Food Pantry hours:
Monday: 9:30AM – 3:00PM
Tuesday: 9:30AM – 6:00PM
Wednesday: 9:30AM – 3:00PM
Thursday: 9:30AM – 6:00PM
Friday: 9:30AM – 3:00PM
Saturday: 9:00AM – 12:00PM
The pantry is staffed by Township volunteers who assist in sorting and picking up donations, as well as bagging items for residents. No tax dollars are used to stock the pantry shelves.
Donations for the pantry can be dropped off at the Town Hall (250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett), the Senior Center (240 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett), and the Izaak Walton Youth Center (899 Jay Street, Elgin) or directly at the pantry. Most needed items include cereal, pancake mix, instant potatoes, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, canned goods, ketchup, paper products, white rice, and soup.
Hanover Township serves over 100,000 residents in portions of the Cook County communities of Streamwood, Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
