The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $48,789 in funding at their April 28 meeting at the Senior Center in Bartlett.
The board awarded $27,500 in Mental Health Housing Funding to Ecker Center for Behavioral Health to provide case management services and weekly therapy groups at Hanover Landing. Located at 711 E. Chicago Street in Elgin, the facility provides permanent supportive housing to 39 Township residents. All tenants are eligible to receive comprehensive on-site supportive services, coordinated by the Hanover Township Supportive Housing Services Coordinator, in addition to staff from Ecker Center.
Marklund and WINGS received $3,000 and $2,794 respectively in Staff Development Funding for personnel to attend training. Marklund currently houses 60 individuals with medically complex developmental disabilities at the Wasmond Center in Hanover Township. Established in 1985, WINGS provides a pathway to independence for people whose lives have been disrupted by domestic violence.
The board awarded $15,495 in Capital Funding to Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley for audiology equipment at their Elgin facility. This equipment will allow agency therapists to identify issues that may be affecting hearing that cannot be found during a standard hearing exam.
Prior to the meeting, board members Marilyn Perri, Matt Steichman, and Mike Kondrath were sworn in by Clerk Katy Dolan Baumer. Perri was appointed by the Township Board of Trustees to fill a vacant seat on the Mental Health Board while Steichmann and Kondrath were reappointed to 4-year terms.
