Hanover Township offers residents a variety of transportation options. From subsidized vouchers for working individuals; to medical visit transportation, the Township has you covered. Please use this information to find the program that will assist you in maintaining an independent and healthy lifestyle.

TRIP: Township Riders Initiative Pilot

We are please to offer our residents an additional service: TRIP (Township Riders Initiative Pilot). This is a pilot program that offers inter-township transportation for medical purposes for individuals 60+ years of age and individuals with a permanent disability age 18 and above. This program provides service beyond our Township boundary, to select townships, Monday - Friday 5:00am - 9:00pm and Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm. Cost of these trips do not exceed $10 one way. Call 630.483.5656 for age and residency requirements and to register for this program. This service may be unavailable in the future due to funding changes.

RTA Program

Hanover Township Senior Center is a RTA Site for the Senior Ride Free Program and Reduced Fare for individuals with disabilities program.  Staff will take the picture for you for a fee of $2.00 and applications are mailed out weekly.  Residents receive their pass within 4-5 weeks.

Dial-A-Bus Program

Hanover Township Senior Services Dial-A-Bus has a fleet of 9 vehicles, 6 of which are accessible for persons with disabilities. These vehicles are used to transport Township residents 55+ years of age and individuals with a permanent disability age 18 and above. This curb-to-curb service operates Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. We provide service on a first come, first served basis and reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 630.483.5656. There is a suggested donation of $1.00 one way; $2.00 round trip. Transportation is provided for medical appointments, personal business, grocery shopping, regularly scheduled trips to shopping malls, etc.

Riders are picked up curbside and transported throughout the Township and up to five miles beyond the Township boundaries. We meet the ADA requirements for transporting adult residents with disabilities.

 

TIDE: Ticket to Ride Taxi Voucher Program

The TIDE Ticket to Ride Taxi Voucher Program is available for residents of Hanover Township, Cook County, 16 years or older, who have a physical, cognitive (mental) or developmental condition that interferes in at least one "major life activity".  For the purpose of TIDE, the "major life activity" is the ability to be self-transporting (make arrangements for and travel by one's self) over distances. The TIDE Ticket to Ride Voucher Program is available for cab rides to or from work or job training only. 

The TIDE Ticket to Ride program will provide transportation to work sites up to 7 miles outside the boundaries of Hanover Township. Hanover Township boundaries extend North to the 90, South to Devon, and East to Barrington Road and West to Hiawatha Drive. The Cook County portions of Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood are part of the Township. In addition, a small portion of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg are within Hanover Township Boundaries.   For more information on the TIDE program and other transportation services available, please contact the Mental Health Board Coordinator at (630) 837-0301.

 Transportation services for persons with disabilities are available through the Hanover Township Senior Services Department. These services are available Mon-Fri.
