Administrative Assistant (30hrs weekly/$13.00 per hour)

Hanover Township Assessor’s office is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant.  Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Assessor, this position is responsible for carrying out duties that include general clerical, customer service, support services for staff, and serve as a taxpayer liaison for the Cook County Assessor’s Office. 

This position provides customer service assistance to residents, taxpayers, staff, and vendors.   Applicant will assist residents with appeals, legal descriptions, calculating tax bills, tax rates, exemptions, and other real estate tax bill questions.

The Administrative Assistant position requires a high school diploma or GED with one to two years experience in an office setting preferred.   An ability to read and speak a second language at a conversant level is a plus.

Candidate must possess a willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed.   Candidate must possess the ability to work in a team and independently with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  The successful candidate will have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, basic knowledge of property tax related processes, basic phone skills, and familiarity with the Hanover Township area.

Afternoon Receptionist (20 Hours weekly/$12 to $12.50 per hour)

Hanover Township Senior Services is seeking a part time afternoon receptionist  to work Monday through Friday 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM .  Under the supervision of the Senior Services Program Manager, this position is responsible for carrying out duties that include general clerical and receptionist based work.  Holds responsibility for providing responsive, accurate, and efficient clerical, supportive, and customer service assistance to residents, staff, and officials.  Maintains a professional image through in-person, email and phone interactions.  Answers the switchboard and directs calls to Senior Services staff.  Handles inquiries in person, receive fees, and reconciles through QuickBooks and extensive work in Microsoft Excel.  Performs other duties as required for the successful operation of the Department of Senior Services.

Administrative Assistant (Full time, starting salary $32,000 plus an excellent benefits package)

Hanover Township located in Cook County, Illinois, is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time Administrative Assistant position. Under the direction of the Management Analyst, this position is responsible for carrying out duties that include general clerical and office based work. 

This position assists residents in the processing and filing of paperwork for passports, handicap placards, IDNR sales, vehicle stickers, and voter registration.  The Administrative Assistant also supports the Administrative Services department by providing responsive, accurate, and efficient clerical, supportive, and customer service assistance to residents, elected officials, staff, and vendors. 

The Administrative Assistant position requires an Associate’s Degree and two years of administrative or professionally related experience. Ability to write and speak Spanish preferred.

Candidates must possess a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.  Candidates must possess the ability to work in a team and independently with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Candidates must also possess proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, Publisher, and Excel and possess the ability to work effectively with the public, Town Board, and staff.  The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.

Starting salary $32,000 plus an excellent benefits package.
