Public Aid Programs
Social Services Caseworkers assist clients in completing applications for the following Public Aid Programs:
  • Medicaid
  • Food Stamps, (LINK Card)
  • Medicare Savings Program (Provides assistance with Medicare Part B premiums, deductibles and co-insurances)
 
Senior Will Program
Hanover Township Senior Services is a site for the Senior Will Program that offers senior citizens one free, will-related consultation with a lawyer and if the senior wishes, the low-cost preparation of a Living Will and Durable Power of health Care and Property.  The program is sponsored by the Chicago Bar Association Referral Services.  Participating lawyers are supplied by the Chicago Bar Association and have experience in Will preparation.  The lawyer is available monthly by appointment. Please contact Social Services to schedule your appointment.
Lending Closet
Our Lending Closet consists of medical equipment such as wheel chairs, walkers, bath chairs and shower benches that are loaned out to residents. A refundable deposit is required when picking up the equipment. Wellness Programs
Social Services partners with many agencies to offer Wellness programs on a monthly basis for our seniors. Listed below are programs that we offer and you can participate in:
  •  
  • Take Charge of Your Health Program - Chronic Disease Self-Management Program created by Stanford University, (offered twice annually)
  • Positive Action Group (Meets every month)
  • Secretary of State Rules of the Road Review Course, (offered every four months)
  • Monthly seminars in Nutrition, Senior Safety, Reverse Mortgages, Vision Loss and Much More!

Support Groups

  • Grief Support Group, facilitated by Monarch Hospice. This group meets on a monthly basis. New members are always welcome!
  • Caregivers Support Group that meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. New members always welcome!
  • Caring for Our Memory Support Group - This group is open to individuals who are experiencing mild memory loss.  Every month memory loss topics will be discussed and you will be given the opportunity to share your feelings and receive support in a positive environment.  Caregivers are also welcome.  This group meets the third Thursday of every month from 10:30 to 11:30AM.  It is facilitated by Jennifer Busche, Social Services Manager and Amy Barnicle of Arden Courts of Elk Grove Village.  New members are always welcome.

Adopt-a-Senior Program
Our Adopt-a-Senior Program is intended to serve low income residents who are in need of a few gift items during the holiday season.  Our Social Services staff partners with the community to create care packages. The care packages consist of gifts, non-perishable food items and a gift card to make the holiday season special for our seniors. A Giving Tree is displayed in the Senior Center lobby to give residents and Businesses an opportunity to support the program by purchasing needed gift items.  We also welcome any monetary gift donations to be put to wards creating the care packages as well.  To apply to be a receipent of the program please fill out the application.
 Recipient of the program must meet income eligibility guidelines.  For more information on Adopt-a-Senior guidelines, please click here.
Outreach Friendly Visiting Programs
  • PAL (People Against Loneliness Program) - Volunteers who offer friendship/companionship two times a month to seniors who might not have a support system such as friends, family or caregiver
  • Bilingual PALS-AN Extension of the PAL Program - Bilingual PALS are volunteers who speak a second language fluently and are willing to participate in programs at the Senior Center with an individual who speaks a second language. To participate, contact Cathy at 630.483.5669

Senior Companion Program - This program is part of Senior Corps, a Federal program that is a network of national and community service programs.
