Area chambers oppose gambling expansion
All of the chambers are located in or near towns that have casinos. Chamber leaders from Aurora, Elgin, Des Plaines, Joliet and Naperville issued a joint letter on Wednesday that lobbied against the passage of Senate Bill 1739. The bill would add a south suburban casino, a Chicago casino, and slot machines at racetracks to the state’s gambling mix. The Senate has passed the bill, and the House is now considering it.
