Open Gym
After School Open Gym Program
Township youth ages 5-18 can take advantage of this free program which offers opportunities for recreation, sports, arts and crafts, and leadership development. Registration is required. Please call to register at 630-483-5799. This program is offered at nine School District U-46 sites, including:

- Hilltop Elementary School, Elgin
- Tefft Middle School, Streamwood
- Laurel Hill Elementary School, Hanover Park
- Oakhill Elementary School, Streamwood
- Ontarioville Elementary School, Hanover Park
- Parkwood Elementary School, Hanover Park
- Sunnydale Elementary School, Streamwood
- Timber Trails Elementary School, Hoffman Estates
Under the coordination of our outreach and prevention staff the program brings together Township staff, police officers, and volunteers providing positive interactions with and opportunities for youth. Homework help, interactive games, and field trips are also a part of the Open Gym Program.
Open Gym is offered weekly during the school year and during the summer and spring breaks. Open Gym provides positive activities in an atmosphere which promotes respectful behavior and ownership by the youth who participate. Special events add to the fun. Family Week, dances, live entertainment, and visits from Santa are examples. This program is a collaborative effort by Hanover Township, School District U-46, the Villages, Police Departments and Park Districts of Bartlett, Hanover Park, Streamwood and the City of Elgin, the Fire Departments and Districts, and local agencies.
