Mary Alice Benoit, a licensed attorney and former journalist, is a Bartlett resident who has lived in Hanover Township for the past 25 years. She first ventured into community involvement by serving on the board of St. John the Evangelist School in Streamwood. During her six years on the board, she twice served as school board president. Later she helped to run the school’s Athletic Program and served for four years as the Sports Committee Chairperson before taking over the program for three years as its Athletic Director.
In May of 2000, she was appointed to the Hanover Township Mental Health Board where she stayed until her election to the Hanover Board of Trustees in April of 2009. She was re-elected to the Hanover Township Board of Trustees in April of 2013. Currently she is re-joining the Hanover Township Mental Health Board as the Trustee Liaison and serves ad the Chair of the Hanover Township Mental Health Housing Task Force. Previously she served as the Finance Council Chair and as the Trustee Liaison to the Senior Committee and the Committee on Youth.
Trustee Benoit has long devoted herself to volunteering with youth including children’s community theater and Girl Scouting and has come to love and care about the countless residents of Hanover Township she has met through her service as a Township Trustee. She looks forward to a productive and exciting second term and hopes to meet even more of the Township’s amazing residents.
