Summer Open Gym is underway!
Free and open to all Township youth!
The Hanover Township Summer Open Gym program will kick-off on Monday, June 4 and continues through Friday, August 3. Township youth are eligible to participate in a wide variety of free recreational, educational, and social activities in School District U-46 gyms as well as the Township’s Izaak Walton Center & Reserve in Elgin. At the reserve, youth will experience the outdoors with nature walks, cookouts, scavenger hunts and other outdoor activities in the sprawling 11 acres of green space. Township staff will also offer archery at the reserve throughout the summer. Over 560 youth participated in last year’s program.
Summer Open Gym will be held 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The program schedule and sites include:
Mondays - Parkwood Elementary (Door # 3), 2150 Laurel Avenue, Hanover Park, (Ages 5-14)
Tuesdays - Tefft Elementary (Main Entrance), 1100 Shirley Avenue, Streamwood (Ages 5-18)
Wednesdays and Friday - Izaak Walton Center and Reserve, 899 Jay Street, Elgin, (Ages 5-16)
Thursdays - Sunnydale Elementary (Main Entrance), 716 Sunnydale Blvd., Streamwood, (Ages 5-14).
During the summer, youth will participate in a combination of team building activities, arts and crafts, and high-energy gym games with engaging and friendly staff.
